November News for Parents

Hello, families!

Thank you for being a part of our community. We're grateful for all that you bring to our school. We're grateful for the time that we're privileged to spend with your children, and we sincerely thank you for trusting us to be such an integral part of your child's formative years. More than ever, we're committed to inspiring inquiry and curiosity, and filling your children's time at school with compassion, kindness, and respect. We can't wait to see how they change the world.

Books

We've been hard at work stocking classrooms with books, fulfilling teacher requests, and organizing a system for regular book rotations. Books will be rotated monthly between centers, and we're working to fill requests for learning circles, ateliers, and current class interests as soon as possible.

Emergency Contact Update

Thank you to all of you that have filled out your mobile carrier information. If you haven't yet had a chance to get this information to us, please do so as soon as you can. This allows us to send text messages to you in the event of an emergency.

November Events and Closures

Thursday, November 17 - The Power of Choices
Join our executive director, Nina, for a parenting class that will give you the tools you need to use choices to offset oppositional moments and make parenting less stressful and more fun.

Thursday, November 24 - Friday, November 25 - CLOSED for Thanksgiving Break

Sunday, December 18 - Join us for our next community event: Winter Faire! Our Southeast school will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, full of nooks and crannies for children to explore. Read stories with a sleepy bear, cast a magic spell with a mysterious wizard, and collect treasures from a friendly gnome and beautiful ice queen. Teachers and community members will sell handmade goods; and delicious food and music invite you to stay awhile. We can't wait to see you there!

Food Drive

Throughout the month of November, we'll be collecting non-perishable foods and cash donations for the Oregon Food Bank. You can drop any food items off in the large white barrels by the entrance of your school. Financial donations can be made on the Oregon Food Bank website, or can be left with your director. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Sibling Enrollment for Fall 2017

Enrollment offers for our fall 2017 infant cohorts will be going out early in the new year. Internal siblings will be offered spaces in January, and we'll be contacting external families to fill the remaining spots in February. If you haven't already, contact Caroline at enrollment@childroots.com to ensure that your baby is on the list.
