I do not plan to become fully vaccinated for medical or religious reasons. How does this requirement affect me?

  • To maintain your employment or ensure that your child remains enrolled in ChildRoots you must submit an exemption form to Human Resources and have it approved.

How did ChildRoots reach this decision?

  • ChildRoots’ administrative team consulted with experts and stakeholders including families and staff before making this decision. It is based on the scientific data that shows the COVID‑19 vaccine effectively eliminates death or serious illness in nearly all COVID‑19 infections. Requiring vaccines, combined with other prevention measures, will help ChildRoots reach the highest level of protection possible, reduce infections, limit many of the disruptions of COVID-19, and safeguard our community.

Where can I get a vaccine?

I have already been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. How do I report to ChildRoots that I have met the requirement?

  • Employees, parents and eligible children will be able to submit proof of their fully vaccinated status by showing an acceptable vaccination document to their Director or Sonya Rheingold in person or via email.

What is “proof of fully vaccinated status”?

  • Proof of fully vaccinated status may be a CDC vaccination card, a photo copy/digital picture of a vaccination card, or a substantially similar document provided by the health care provider or organization who administered the vaccine(s). Whichever format is provided, the proof must include the following information with sufficient legibility to be verified: name, date of birth, type of COVID-19 vaccination given, date or dates given, and the name/location of the health care provider or site where the vaccine was administered.

Will ChildRoots accept vaccines other than those approved for use in the U.S.?

  • Yes, ChildRoots will accept any COVID-19 vaccine that has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). In keeping with the CDC’s clinical considerations guidance, those who’ve received a vaccine that has not been approved by the WHO may be encouraged to obtain a US approved vaccine as soon as possible.

Does asking for proof of vaccination status violate HIPAA laws?

  • No. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, is a law that prevents health care professionals from sharing private health information without the patient’s permission. Generally, the law pertains to a health care setting. It does not prohibit ChildRoots, or other institutions or businesses, from setting a policy that requires people to disclose their own vaccination status. Individuals can then choose whether to disclose by showing proof of vaccination.
