HOLIDAYS, breaks & long summer weekends

All ChildRoots employees receive almost 30 paid days off throughout the course of the year.

HOLIDAYS

All ChildRoots employees receive the following holidays off, are observed the following Monday should it fall on the weekend, and are paid:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Juneteenth Day

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Veteran’s Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Day after Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Eve day

  • Christmas Day

SPRING BREAK

ChildRoots is closed for a week of spring break and is paid for all ChildRoots employees.

SUMMER FOUR-DAY WEEKENDS

The third weekend of each of the summer months of June, July and August are four-day, Friday-to-Monday, weekends for all ChildRoots employees.

WINTER BREAK

ChildRoots is closed during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day and is paid for all ChildRoots employees.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Childroots offers comprehensive training for all positions, full support to obtain licenses and certifications, and numerous professional development days throughout the year.

PAID TIME OFF

Full-time employees begin accruing paid time off (PTO) immediately and are eligible to use PTO after 90 days of employment.

RAISES & BONUSES

All ChildRoots employees are eligible for annual pay raises, Teacher Appreciation bonuses, and long-term committment bonuses.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Full-time employees (30+ hours/week) are eligible for medical benefits after 60 days of employment. ChildRoots offers two Providence Health plans from which to choose, both of which include vision, chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture. ChildRoots covers 80% of the cost of the base plan.

DENTAL INSURANCE

Full-time employees are eligible for dental benefits after 60 days of employment. ChildRoots offers two dental plans from which to choose: Principal, and Willamette Dental. Childroots covers 80% of the cost of the base plan.

LIFE INSURANCE

Full-time employees are automatically enrolled in a $20,000 life insurance plan after 60 days of employment. Childroots covers 100% of the cost.

401(k) RETIREMENT SAVINGS PLAN

All employees who have been employed for a continuous period of one year, have completed 1000 hours of service, and who are 21 years or older, are eligible to participate in a John Hancock 401(k) retirement savings plan. ChildRoots matches contributions 100%, up to 4% of compensation.
