BREAK SUPPORT

Guided by our unique art- and science-based care philosophy, ChildRoots nurtures healthy growth and development in children aged six weeks to six years by encouraging play, open dialogue, and experimentation. We co-learn alongside our students in stimulating, modern spaces, and we're currently recruiting caring, flexible people to fill full-time and part-time Break Support roles!

Break Support is a reliable and stable presence in multiple classrooms, providing mid-day support for teachers to take breaks and lunches.

You'll fit right in at ChildRoots if you genuinely love working with children and have some - or lots of - experience as a babysitter, nanny, care provider, or teacher . If you crave long-term emotional bonds with children, families and coworkers and are willing to communicate honestly and directly with children and adults, you might be a perfect match for our community.

To work with us - or any licensed Oregon child care center - you must be enrolled in Oregon's Central Background Registry.. Also, within your first 30 days of employment, you'll need to have or obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Card and Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification. You'll also need to complete Oregon's Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect and Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety courses.

We offer a competitive, transparent starting hourly wage of $14.00, opportunities for performance reviews and merit-based raises (up to $0.50/hour per review), and paid time off to all employees. For full-time employees (30+ hours/week), we contribute 60% of the cost for our comprehensive, affordable health/vision & dental insurance and pay you for eight holidays & one week-long Winter Break each year.

A ChildRoots career begins with comprehensive training in our Reggio-, RIE-, and constructivism-inspired philosophy, and we also organize four onsite Professional Development Days per year to help you satisfy Oregon's continuing education requirements. Our beautiful, inviting environments are located in vibrant neighborhoods easily accessible by car, transit, and bicycle, and we offer hour-long lunch breaks to enable time for rest and relaxation during each day.
