  1. Join the Waitlist
    Sign up for the PDX Waitlist at join.pdxwaitlist.com (one‑time $40 fee paid to PDXWaitlist; ChildRoots does not charge). We maintain lists for each 6‑month age cohort—early sign‑up gives you the best chance at your preferred start date.

  2. Virtual & In‑Person Tours
    Watch our virtual tour anytime. If you would like to see the center in person and learn more about ChildRoots, you can sign up for a group tour.

  3. Enrollment Offer
    When a spot opens, we extend an enrollment opportunity to families on the waitlist whose needs match the vacancy. Once accepted we send a formal enrollment offer. There is a $250 enrollment fee to secure the spot.

    Enrollment fees are not applied to PFA-approved families.

  4. Parent Orientation
     Attend a mandatory, child‑free, after‑hours Teams meeting to meet our team and learn our approach.

  5. Transition Planning
     Work with your site director or Specialist to tailor a smooth transition plan for your child.

  6. Care Begins
    Scheduled care runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Welcome to the ChildRoots community!

We group children into small, age‑based cohorts (six‑month ranges) to build lasting friendships and consistent learning. Openings only occur when a cohort “graduates,” so waits vary by age—infant spots often have 6–12 month waits, while toddler and preschool openings turn over more quickly. Being on the PDX Waitlist is required for placement consideration; our internal inquiry ensures we match you as soon as your cohort has space.

Waitlists and Cohorts

Tuition & Policies

    • Infant/Toddler: $2,475 2025-2026 Full‑time (M–F) care

    • Preschool: $1850 2025-2026 — Full‑time (M–F) care
      Paid on the 15th prior to care

    • $250 non‑refundable enrollment fee per child

    • Payments after the 20th incur a late fee; full tuition is due regardless of closures or illness

    • We do not offer sibling discounts

    Most fees and billings are not applied to PFA-enrolled families. Late pick-up fees apply.

    • 60 days’ written notice required; tuition due through notice period unless space is filled, without exception.

    • We no longer participate in DHS/ERDC.

    • 24–48 hour exclusion for fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and other conditions; nit‑free policy applies.

    • Immunizations: State‑required vaccines per Oregon timeline are mandatory for enrollment.

    • Childroots supports the collective health and safety of families and staff, and is a pro-vaccination community.

    • Attending children and staff must have complete and current State‑required vaccines, per Oregon timeline. including children less than five years old and must provide proof of status.

What if I never get placed?

You’ll remain on the list until you’re placed, request removal, your child ages out, or there is no response to enrollment opportunity outreach.
