SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Guided by our unique art- and science-based philosophy, ChildRoots nurtures healthy growth and development in children aged six weeks to six years by encouraging play, open dialogue, and experimentation. We co-learn alongside our students in stimulating, modern spaces, and we're currently recruiting Part-Time & Full-Time Substitutes!

A Part-Time Substitute works when they're available and when we need help covering for staff members who are sick or taking time off - a perfect role for someone looking for rewarding work but also plenty of time for other pursuits.

A Full-time Substitute works a guaranteed number of hours per week, also filling in for ill or vacationing coworkers.  This role is perfect for someone who's adaptable, adventurous, and interested in working on a regular basis and with a variety of ages.

Whether Part-Time or Full-Time, Substitutes ensure that everyone in our community is well-cared-for.  If you're warm, friendly, and eager, we have lots for you to do!

You'll fit right in at ChildRoots if you genuinely love working with children and have some experience as a babysitter, nanny, care provider, or teacher . If you crave long-term emotional bonds with children, families and coworkers and are willing to communicate honestly and directly with children and adults, you might be a perfect match for our community.

To work with us - or in any licensed Oregon child care center - you must be enrolled in Oregon's Central Background Registry. Also, within your first 30 days of employment, you'll need to have or obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Card and Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification. You'll also need to complete Oregon's Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect and Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety courses.

We offer a competitive, transparent $13.25 starting hourly wage ((rising to $13.75 June 1st, 2018), opportunities for performance reviews and merit-based raises (up to $0.50/hour per review), and paid time off to all employees. A ChildRoots career begins with comprehensive training in our Reggio-, RIE-, and constructivism-inspired philosophy, and we also organize four onsite Professional Development Days per year to help you satisfy Oregon's continuing education requirements. Our beautiful, inviting environments are located in vibrant neighborhoods easily accessible by car, transit, and bicycle, and we offer hour-long lunch breaks to enable time for rest and relaxation during each day.
